WATCH DOCS

WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film is one of the oldest and largest human rights film festivals in the world, which annually garners 70 000 viewers in the whole Poland. The international film festival in Warsaw, held annually in December, is followed by the traveling festival, which visits around 40 Polish cities. WATCH DOCS is a competition festival focused on documentaries, with strong emphasis on accompanying debates. It is co-organized by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle and Social Institute of Film. Since 2003 the Helsinki Foundation awards documentary filmmakers with Marek Nowicki Prize for outstanding commitment to human rights in film. The Prize was presented to Frederick Wiseman, Victar Dashuk, Rithy Panh, and Kim Longinotto, among others.
