Childhood in occupied Crimea: with weapons in hands, but without the right to be a Ukrainian

Duration
60’

Following the occupation, Russia has been consistently expanding its legal field into Crimea. About 200 children are still deprived of their parents, who are being unjustifiably persecuted for political reasons. The educational system has changed entirely over the last six years as Ukrainian schools and classes have been replaced with ‘military-patriotic’ camps.

At present, there are no efficient mechanisms to protect children on the territory of Crimea or to involve them in the processes taking place on the territory controlled by Ukraine. We will discuss the violations of children’s rights related to the armed conflict and the measures necessary for their protection.
