Heleen Gerritsen studied Slavonic Languages and Economics in Amsterdam and St. Petersburg. She moved to Germany in 2003 where she completed a course in film production and started freelancing as a documentary producer for various companies and broadcasters like ARTE, ZDF, VPRO and SWR. Apart from that, Heleen curated film programmes, e.g. for the Berlin international literature festival, and worked as a freelancer in world sales for documentaries.
In 2009, Heleen produced her first feature length documentary and founded her own production company Serious Directions. From 2014 to 2016, she was Festival Director of the dokumentART European Documentary Film Festival in Neubrandenburg. Since October 2017, Heleen has been at the helm of the goEast Festival of Central and Eastern European Film which is organised by the German Film Institute (DFF).
The festival pass gives access to the rich Docudays UA offline programme, namely the best documentaries from around the world and meetings with their authors. The 20th Docudays UA will take place on 2–8 June 2023.
2022 pass holders who did not use them during the Docudays UA Special Edition last year can receive a pass for the 20th festival free of charge. If the pass has been used, you can get a 50% discount.
