The events of this documentary film unfold between 24 February and early April 2022, during the siege of Kyiv, when the Ukrainian army drove the enemy away from the capital.  

The film focuses on the changes in Kyiv and the people of arts and culture. Actress Larysa Kadochnikova, known for her role as Marichka in Serhii Parajanov's cult film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, refuses to evacuate from the city because she doesn't want to become a refugee. The film ends on 10 April, when the actress returns to the stage of her theater to the sound of an air raid siren. The war continues.

The film features musician Oleh Mykhailiuta (Fagot), art historian and professor Vadym Skurativskyi, film critic and writer Serhii Trymbach, collector and philanthropist Oleksandr Brey.

Dmytro Tomashpolskyi is a Ukrainian film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born in 1958 in Kyiv. He is a member of the European Film Academy and a board member of the Ukrainian Film Academy, and is also head of the Project Lab at the Ukrainian Association of Cinematographers.
