Regional Manager (East- and Horn of Africa) at Human Rights House Foundation (HRH) since 2003. With twenty years’ experience as a freelance journalist, and holding a diploma in web journalism and editorial management, he is also involved in HRH’s media work and information activities. Harbitz is educated in social anthropology, media and communication, the arts and literature from the Universities of Oslo and Bergen, and philosophy and political theory from New York University and University of Westminster. He has also taught media aesthetics, history and theory at the University of Oslo. His prior working experience includes four years’ care-taking, training and teaching of children and youth in kindergarten, schools and other institutions, a decade of voluntary work for the NGO Youth for Nuclear Disarmament, and consultancy and promotion engagements for various publishing houses.
