Simon Lereng Wilmont

Simon Lereng Wilmont was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2009, and his films include Above Ground, Beneath the Sky (2008, Best Short Film at Vision du Réel), Dormitory Master (2009), Chikara – The Sumo Wrestler's Son (2013, Best Medium Length Documentary at Al Jazeera International Film Festival) and The Fencing Champion (2014, Best Short Length Documentary at Al Jazeera International film Festival). Simon’s latest film The Distant Barking Of Dogs (2017) has won several international awards, among them: Best First Appearance at International Film Festival of Amsterdam, Best Nordic Documentary at Göteborg International Film Festival, The Golden Alexander at Thessaloniki International Film Festival, The Viktor at Doc.fest Munchen and the McBaine Golden Gate Documentary Feature Award at San Francisco International Film Festival. The film continues to screen at festivals and broadcasters around the world through out the year.
