CHANGE - Co-production training course 2026-2027
CPH:DOX, Documentary Film Association of Ukraine, Docudays UA, EAVE and IMS are calling for eight teams with documentary projects in development from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Sakartvelo (Georgia), Moldova, and Ukraine.
We offer a tailor-made programme taking place over three residential workshops with the aim to stimulate and qualify inter-regional co-production and to connect documentary projects to regional and international markets. Participants are tutored by regional and international experts.
The first two workshops will consist of five full days of group work, plenaries, and individual meetings; the third workshop will take place CPH:DOX and consists of workshop days, pitching of the projects in the framework of CPH:FORUM as well as debrief of the pitching and development of strategies for the teams and projects after the workshop.
Between the workshops, participants will be working on project development with specific tasks and assignments.
Applications are open to teams consisting of a director and a producer with a documentary project in development.
The following criteria must be met:
The team must be from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Sakartvelo (Georgia), Moldova, or Ukraine.
The producer must be based in the country of production, unless the project originates from Belarus or Azerbaijan.
Participants who have previously taken part in CHANGE are not eligible to apply, unless they are applying in a different role (e.g. switching from director to producer or vice versa).
All participants must be comfortable reading, writing, and speaking English, as this is the working language of the programme.
The film project shall:
Demonstrate to cover topics of public interest in a professional and ethical way.
Have an idea of how to reach intended audiences and be a call for action.
Seek to have an impact on the public debate leading to potential social, political, or cultural change.
Priority is given to productions focusing on issues of gender equality, marginalized groups and minorities, diversity, social change, current affairs, and human rights.
We are committed to equal opportunity for all applicants. Projects that cross the field between documentary and journalism are also welcome.
Applications must be submitted by the stated deadline. The application deadline for the 2026-2027 edition is August 10, 2026.
The application form can be downloaded here. Completed applications should be submitted in accordance with the instructions provided in the form. For questions or further information, please contact Mara Gourd-Mercado at [email protected].
Following the application deadline, a selection of applicants may be invited for an online interview in August to further clarify their application. The final selection will be announced in early September 2026.
There is no participation fee for CHANGE. The programme covers tutoring, travel, accommodation, and living expenses for all three residential workshops.
Participants are responsible for covering their own local transportation costs.
