We’re Announcing a Competition of Documentary Animation Projects!

Docudays UA in cooperation with the Civil Union “Ukrainian Animation Association UAnimA” announces a national Ukrainian competition of documentary animation videos Cyberbullying. How I Stopped Being a Victim, based on real-life stories. The deadline for submitting the competition works is July 31.

 

Three winners of the competition will receive monetary prizes equivalent to 2,500 euro, under the condition that their project is implemented. The animated documentary videos will become an effective element of the Campaign Against Cyberbullying, launched by the Docudays UA festival in cooperation with partner organizations. The goal of the campaign is to reduce cyberbullying in the Ukrainian society.

 

The animated documentaries will be presented during the Traveling Docudays UA festival in December 2019. In addition, the authors will present the videos in March 2020 at Docudays UA in Kyiv, and on the social media pages of the Civil Union “Ukrainian Animation Association UAnimA” and partner organizations of the Docudays UA festival which participate in the Campaign Against Cyberbullying.

 

The competition will take place in 2 stages.

 

1st stage

 

1. June 10 – July 15, 2019: submitting applications to participate in the competition. Applications must be sent in electronic form to the email address of the competition’s co-organizer Ksenya Shymanska, [email protected] The title of the email must read “Application for participating in the competition Cyberbullying. How I Stopped Being a Victim. The letter must contain: a brief CV, motivation, contacts (address, phone number).

 

2. July 15 – 20 – selection of competition participants.

 

3. July 20 – the competition participants will receive real-life stories of the winners of the National Children’s Essay Competition Cyberbullying. How I Stopped Being a Victim, in order to develop the projects of animated documentary videos.

 

2nd stage

 

1. July 20 – July 31, 2019: submitting competition projects.

 

2. August 1 – 10: consideration of the submissions by the jury.

 

3. August 10: announcement of the winners at the Docudays UA website. To determine the winners of the national Ukrainian competition of documentary animation videos Cyberbullying. How I Stopped Being a Victim, the organizational committee of Docudays UA will invite a competent jury. The members of the jury will be announced no later than July 1, 2019.

 

Terms of the competition:

 

- The projects must be developed on the basis of the real-life stories of the winners of the National Children’s Essay Competition Cyberbullying. How I Stopped Being a Victim.

 

- The competition projects must be sent in electronic form to the email address of the competition’s co-organizer Ksenya Shymanska, [email protected] The title of the email must read “Application for participating in the competition Cyberbullying. How I Stopped Being a Victim.”

 

- Only original auteur projects are accepted to participate in the competition. For this purpose, the author must sign a letter guaranteeing that their work does not violate copyright laws.

 

- Projects for creating an animated documentary video between 1 and 2 minutes in length are accepted for the competition.

 

- The deadline for submitting the competition works is July 31 (based on the date of sending the email).

 

To participate in the competition, you need to submit:

 

- A storyboard (a story in drawings which you would like to implement — at least 10 pictures).

 

- A description of the style (drawing, puppet animation — a couple of drawings on how you see it).

 

- A script.

 

- MANDATORY! Contact information (address, phone number of the competition participant, email) and a written consent to the use of personal information.

 

- If you have an idea where you want to realize the project, you can write about it in an annex to the project. If you have a team, an artist, it would be an advantage.
