A Portrait on the Background of Mountains at DOCUSPACE

16 December 2021

For the winter holidays, we are adding A Portrait on the Background by Maksym Rudenko to the Ukrainian Docs: Favorites programme. You can watch the film at DOCUSPACE online cinema starting today.

Deep in the mountains a photographer Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit photographed people and a place where she lived for many years. After her death, a box with thousands of her negatives was found under her bed. This finding marks the start of the mysterious journey in search of the present and the past, as reflected in the photo negatives discovered by chance.

The film is recognized for masterful cinematography and a subtle soundtrack by composer Sviatoslav Luniov and was nominated for the Golden Dzyga film award.

You can watch the film until 1 December 2022. Ticket price — 50 hryvnias.

In addition, we are continuing the screening of the films Mustard in the Gardens directed by Piotr Armianovski and Above the Styx by Maria Stoianova. Films are available until 1 May 2022. Ticket price — 30 hryvnias.
