“The DOCU/HELP support initiative for Ukrainian filmmakers has been made possible by donations from our international colleagues, friends and partners. DOCU/HELP was created at the beginning of the full-scale invasion: at first we helped filmmakers by providing them with the most necessary filming equipment, that is, equipment without which they would not have been able to continue filming (batteries, hard drives, memory cards, chargers, adapters, microphones, lenses, etc.). We covered fuel, medicine and first aid equipment costs, as well as basic needs in emergency situations. Then, together with Deutsche Filmakademie e.V. and the Goethe Institut, we launched the FILMBOOST stipend programme. We also initiated tactical medicine courses for documentary filmmakers and provided them with power stations. And now we are continuing the initiative in the format of helping filmmakers go on professional trips. We are grateful to everyone who has donated and joined the process, and we are happy to be able to support our colleagues,” say Darya Bassel and Vika Khomenko, the DOCU/PRO team.
