DOCU/PRO

Meet Professionals: Three sessions of the industry platform

20 May 2024

During this year’s DOCU/PRO programme, we invite you to join Meet Professionals for all holders of industry accreditation.

These are meetings that will help you expand your professional network, discover the opportunities offered by European broadcasters and sales agents. At these sessions, there will be conversations with professionals in financing, programming, and distribution of documentaries.

The first session on 3 June will be a meeting with Jess Gormley, the executive producer of Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy award-winning Guardian documentaries. At the event, you will have an opportunity to find out what The Guardian is looking for in documentary shorts, how they work with filmmakers, and how they find the audience for a film.

During the second session on 4 June, you will have an opportunity to meet the commissioning editors from some of the biggest European public broadcasters. They will discuss the particularities of their work, their editorial strategies, purchasing territories, and the most effective approaches to pitching. The participants will include Thomas Beyer (MDR, Germany); Fabrice Puchault (Arte France, France); Asta Dalman (SVT, Sweden); Emma Hindley (BBC, UK); Bernd Seidl (SWR, Germany). The meeting will be moderated by the tutor and co-founder of DAE Brigid O'Shea.

At the final session on 6 June, you will meet sales agents from major European companies and learn how they work and what kind of films they look for. The participants include Wouter Jansen (Square Eyes); Aïda Aziz(Mediawan Rights); Nevena Milašinović (Lightdox); Shoshi Korman (Cinephil);  Aleksandra Derewienko(CAT&Docs). The meeting will be moderated by the tutor and co-founder of DAE Brigid O'Shea.
