What is the end of the world for one person is another ordinary Tuesday for someone else. Film director, poet, soldier’s wife and mother of a teenager, Iryna Tsilyk captures a typical day in Kyiv amid wartime. A film about resistance and the beautiful, strong people in the dark times.

Red Zone is an animated documentary following Iryna, a 40-year-old Ukrainian filmmaker, through one day of her life. She lives in Kyiv with her son Andrii (13), while her husband Artem (38) serves in the army. War is their reality—morning coffee and time with friends coexist with shelling and curfews. But today is different. Artem is in Bakhmut, a deadly red zone, and he’s out of touch. Trying to live her day with its everyday affairs, Iryna simultaneously faces the fear of losing her loved one and reflects on how she and the people around her have changed during the war.
