Babylon’13 is an independent collective of Ukrainian filmmakers that emerged at the start of the Revolution of Dignity in 2013 as a creative response to the public demand for truthfully documenting events that shape the country.
For over 11 years, the collective has been chronicling key moments of Ukraine’s contemporary history, capturing the reality of war, exposing war crimes committed by the Russian Federation, and sharing with the world the voices of those who resist, survive, help, and remember. At the heart of Babylon’13’s work are real people, their daily struggles, and their resilience.
Over the years, Babylon’13 has produced more than 500 short documentaries—available on the collective’s YouTube channel — and 12 feature-length films, including Iron Butterflies, Summertime in Ukraine, Kilometer, Ten Seconds, The First Company, A Poem for Little People, Independence Day, Volunteer Day, among others.
The collective’s films have been featured at leading international festivals such as Sundance, Berlinale, Hot Docs, Docudays UA, Sheffield DocFest, Karlovy Vary, Docaviv, the Odesa International Film Festival, and the Warsaw Film Festival. Their work has also been showcased on major VOD platforms and broadcasters including BBC, ARTE, RBB, and DAFilms.com.
