Filip Marczewski

Biography
Born in 1974 in Łódź, Filip Marczewski is a Polish director, screenwriter, producer, and lecturer. In 2006 he graduated from the Łódź Film School’s directing department, where his student film Melodrama (2005) became the school’s most awarded short film and went on to be nominated by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for a student Oscar. His feature debut Shameless (2012) was selected by IndieWire magazine as one of the 10 best films of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and also won the Civis Media Prize for best European film addressing tolerance.

As a producer, his works include Stimulants & Empathogens (2024), Basia: Three Short Stories (2023), Live (2022), and Ptitsa (2022). He currently serves as director of Wajda School and Wajda Studio, lectures at Poland’s Wajda School, Gdynia Film School, and Łódź Film School, and organises the Script Pro screenplay competition.
