Biography
Alisa Kovalenko, born in 1987, is a Ukrainian award-winning director.

She graduated from the Karpenko-Karyi Theatre, Cinema and Television University in Kyiv and completed her specialization in documentary filmmaking at the Dok Pro program of the Andrzej Wajda School in Warsaw. After her first feature-length documentary Sister Zo (2014), which she made during her last year of studies, Alisa signed her actual debut, Alisa in Warland, premiered at IDFA 2015 in Amsterdam in the First Appearance competition.

Alisa's acclaimed second documentary Home Games (2018) was premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest and featured in the IDFA 2018 official selection. Home Games was selected for 75 festivals, won 9 awards, and was nominated for Best Documentary by the Ukrainian Film Academy in 2019. Alisa also directed the 10-part documentary series Beautiful Game (2018), broadcasted on Current Time TV and the Ukrainian Public Television, UA:PBC.

In 2019, Alisa became a member of the European Film Academy.
