22 February 2012

International Documentary Film Festival Docudays UA  supported by the School of Journalism at the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is launching a contest for the best animated spot. The contest will take place on March 23-28, 2012 in Kyiv. The task is to create an animated spot that would best convey the festival’s spirit, as well as offer the most interesting interpretation of the festival’s motto – WIN EVERY DAY!.  It is required to involve the festival’s symbol (Weightlifter) in any form, as well as to play around the theme of street-art as the focus of this year’s edition.

It is recommended to use the score from original festival promo spot, but it is also possible to use any other music, according to the authors’ preferences. The score from the original festival promo spot may be downloaded herehttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/7342013/docu_last_ver.wav. If used, it is strongly required to mention the composer’s name in the credits: Anton Baibakov.

The spot could be made in any animation technique and should be no shorter than 10 and no longer than 30 seconds.

Technical requirements:

Quick Time, 1920*1080 (HDTV), 25 frames, H.264 compression.

If your work is successfully selected, additional technical requirements may arise.

Please send the spot to Darya Bassel, [email protected]

Submission deadline is 23 March, 2012.

The works selected by the Festival’s Organizing Committee will be uploaded to a special Vimeo channel on March 24th, to be followed by an open vote that any person can take part in.

The vote will take place till 12:00 of March, 28th. After that, the winner will be announced (based on the number of voices).

The Festival’s Organizing Committee reserves the right to select the winner on the basis on its own subjective point of view. Thus, the contest may have two winners.

The winners will be awarded special diplomas, invited to the Festival’s closing party and obtain the unique opportunity to present their works to the wide audience of Docudays UA!
