Victoria Belopolskaya

Born in 1963 in Moscow, Russia. After graduating from the Moscow State University (Faculty of Journalism) in 1986, she began to work as a film critic. Victoria made the pre-selection of films created in Russia & the former USSR for the Leipzig Documentary Film Festival, worked on the FIPRESCI juries of film festivals in Oberhausen (Germany, 1996), Kraków (Poland, 1998), Amsterdam (IDFA, the Netherlands, 1999), Mumbai (India, 2000), Sydney (Australia, 2002), and the juries of the Tampere International Short Film Festival (Finland, 2003) and the Warsaw International Film Festival (Poland, 2007). Now she collaborates as a scout for Russian doc productions with the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). She works as a staff film observer for the Psychologies monthly; is а programming director of Artdocfest, the most influential Russian festival for creative documentaries (Moscow), and a member of the selection committee for Flahertiana, the only film festival in Russia exclusively for documentaries. Victoria is a current member of the Russian Academy of Film Arts.
