Docudays UA welcomes the viewers to Gogolfest

08 September 2014

On Thursday, September 11th, at 7 PM, the International Polydisciplinary Festival Gogolfest will open its doors. That very day, Docudays UA welcomes the viewers to watch Captain and his Pirate by Andy Wolff on which later the famous Captain Phillips by Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks would be based.

Detailed schedule of Docudays UA screenings:

9:30 PM – Captain and his Pirate, dir. Andy Wolff

September 14th

8:00 PM – a short selection: With Open Eyes, dir. Erik Bäfving; Mom, dir. Lidia Sheinina; Joanna, dir. Aneta Kopacz

September 15th

9:30 PM - Life in Paradise – Illegals in the Neighborhood, dir. Roman Vital

September 20th

5 PM – Pretty Dyana, dir. Boris Mitić, as a part of the Veloden event dedicated to urban area cycling.

This year, Gogolfest has decided to change its format. For the first time its program would be elaborated in mere days before the launch, as almost two thirds of it would consist of the content created by the participants of Gogolfest’s school and residence on August 6th – September 10th. At the education and production complex on the premises of the no longer operating metal work plant near metro station Vydubychi, the artists will build and strengthen the structure of various arts and detached disciplines.

We’d like to remind that Gogolfest School and Residence has also incorporated the Documentary School that aims at training “a multipurpose documentary-maker able to fil without a big team or huge budgets.” The school is organized as a workshop with lectures on drama in documentaries, directing, and editing are accompanied by practice.

Among lecturers will be director and Maria Razbezhkina’s graduate Katerina Gornostai, feature and documentary film director Olga Pryvolnova, and videojournalist Bohdan Kutiepov. Training will result in short documentary projects produced by each student. The films will be presented in the course of Gogolfest 2014 film program.
