The stories of these Ukrainian women are drastically different, yet alike — in their resilience in the face of war and life challenges, overcoming stigma and discrimination. On this day in the Human Library, we will talk about the work of medics on the frontline, saving and evacuating wounded soldiers, about volunteering and women’s leadership, society’s perception of identity, and how vibrant life can be despite established diagnoses.
The “books”:
Tetiana Romaniuk: “I am an evacuation medic with the ‘Hospitaliers.’ Every rotation means saved lives. Ask me — I’ll tell you how it is.”
Valeriia Rachynska: “HIV does not stop me from being a successful woman and leader, and I strive to teach others. Ask me — I’ll tell you how it is.”
Mariia Makarova: “I am a volunteer, LGBTQIA+, and in my free time, I create fairy-tale worlds and bring fictional characters to life in LARP (live-action role play). Ask me — I’ll tell you how it is.”
