Human Library: Childhood in occupation, raising children with autism, and artists serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
How much do we really know about what people experience under occupation and what it takes to try to leave? What is it like to leave everything behind and take up defence of the country? Or to raise a child with autism spectrum disorder, fighting for their right to education and a dignified life? For this Human Library, we invited three open “books” united by extraordinary experience, inner strength, and willingness to speak about uncomfortable and sensitive topics.
The “books”:
Anna Boiko: “I left occupied Crimea, resisted Russian propaganda, and endured FSB interrogations. I need to remain Ukrainian. Ask me — I’ll tell you how it is.”
Anna Dubchak: “I am a mother of a 10-year-old boy with autism. I know the most incredible success is possible. And for the impossible, you just need more time. Ask me — I’ll tell you how it is.”
Yelyzaveta Zharikova: “I am a combat medic, poet, and musician. I serve because I cannot do otherwise. Ask me — I’ll tell you how it is.”
