Imagine this: you’ve brought a bottle of water, a coffee in a paper cup, a napkin, and an apple with you to the cinema. After the screening, out of habit, you toss everything into one bin and forget about it in a moment. But the environment definitely won’t forget. A plastic bottle will “live” for at least 400 years, polluting the soil and air. And if it ends up next to something like an apple or coffee grounds in a landfill, it could even catch fire!
An apple, plastic, and paper together? That’s a bad mix. So this year, we’ve decided to show you how to send each of them on the right solo trip — and turn them into valuable resources.
Before the festival, together with the Recycle team, we’ll set up sorting stations at the Zhovten Cinema to give most waste a chance at a second life. Used cardboard, for example, can be turned into office paper, and plastic can become raw material for a new T-shirt. To make that happen, just throw your trash into the properly labeled bin.
To send waste on its solo trip, the festival will have five sorting stations: three in public areas for the audience, and two more in service areas for the team.
We sort the following categories:
Plastic
Glass
Paper/Cardboard
Other waste
To keep their journey on track, we recommend checking the sorting rules in advance.
Where to find the sorting stations?
Station #1 is located at the entrance of the Zhovten cinema.
Station #2 is in the lobby on the first floor, near the stairs going up.
Station #3 is in the lobby on the second floor.
What’s next?
Where will the waste go? Oh, they’re in for an amazing journey with their own kind — and maybe even a new life!
Every evening, all the waste fractions will be collected by Yura, the Recycle courier, and taken to the sorting facility. From there, each will go its own way — the waste for recycling, and Yura will head home.
After the festival, we will share how much waste was collected and how much was successfully transformed into a valuable resource.
See you at the festival!
