The DOCU/CLASS events will be held offline at Zhovten Cinema (Classic Hall) on 7–11 June in the format of public talks which everyone can join and ask questions of the masterclass speakers — experienced film professionals, curators and cultural managers.
“This year’s DOCU/CLASS workshop programme includes five panel discussions and focuses on pressing issues for the Ukrainian film community. We will be discussing horizontal networking and strengthening cooperation among Ukrainian film festivals, finding a balance between artistic expression and the ethics of portraying war, and working with audiovisual archives in film. One of the panels will also be dedicated to the festival’s key theme — participatory democracy — with participants including Auberi Edler, director of American Pastoral, and Mstyslav Chernov, director of 2000 Meters to Andriivka. Another panel, bringing together Chilean and Ukrainian film professionals, will analyse how representatives of both countries convey their histories and experiences in dialogue with international audiences,” explained Olga Sydorushkina, workshop curator and Docudays UA programmer.
