The company commander of the Hroza battalion, Captain Denys “Khimik” Shevchenko, died on December 6, 2023, in the battles for the Kharkiv region. By decree of the President of Ukraine, he is posthumously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine. Two years after the death of the commander, his subordinates, comrades, and friends recall the events of 2023 and describe Captain Shevchenko as a person without whom they would not have survived at that time. A person who saved the lives of an entire company. The events of the film take place in the Kharkiv region, exactly where Captain Shevchenko was born and died.

Liza Svyrydenko is a Ukrainian director and cultural figure. She graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Her documentary short film, Why Are People Unhappy? was created as part of the Recall, Reflect, Retell workshop, a joint project of Gestapokeller und Augustaschacht Memorial Association (Germany) and After Silence public organization (Ukraine). The film participated in exhibitions and public screenings in Germany, in particular in Berlin and Osnabrück.
Eternal Sun is Liza Svyrydenko’s first feature film, created in collaboration with the “Hroza” battalion of the 1st Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine “Burevii”.Selected Filmography
