Join us once again on 5 June at 19:00 at the Zhovten Cinema for the Opening Ceremony of the 23rd Docudays UA. From Friday, a lively week of screenings and events unfolds. Our hosts, Angelina Kariakina and Maksym Shcherbyna, will introduce this year’s highlights and explain why the festival theme is Simple Structures. To mark the occasion, we will present a special film — Born To Fake (92 min), directed by Erec Brehmer and Benjamin Rost.
'Exploring one of Germany’s most infamous media hoaxes, Born To Fake tells the story of journalist Michael Born, who spent years selling fabricated news stories to television networks. The film confronts us with an uncomfortable yet timely question: why do we place such unquestioning faith in what appears on our screens?'
If you’d like to raise a glass to our long‑awaited reunion, we invite you to arrive a little earlier — at 18:00 we begin the reception in the cinema foyer. We will also take a moment to thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for making it possible to hold the festival for the fifth time since the full‑scale invasion.
With gratitude and warmth,
The Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival team
