In Lviv, Ukraine, where over 1,000 soldiers from the ongoing war are buried, a group of devoted men from different walks of life organises funeral ceremonies, while the cemetery's space dwindles with each passing day.
Flowers of Mars is an ethical observation of the preparation for the burial of fallen soldiers. Roman works in the patronage department of the mayor of Lviv. This is his first job after graduating from the Theological Academy. Ruslan, a military major who notifies families of the soldier’s death. Antoniy, a volunteer nurse at a civilian morgue, prepares the bodies for burial. Oleksandr coordinates processes at the military cemetery and cares for neglected graves. And Oleksiy, a 70-year-old retiree and hearse driver, who looks like Don Corleone but never fails to honour the life of the fallen in his own way. Together, they have organised over 900 military ceremonies.
