The photo taken during the collectivization times by amateur photographer Mark Zalizniak became one of the most famous symbols of the Holodomor, but the fate of the people depicted in it remained unknown. The film explores the history of this family, the photo itself, and its symbolic meaning.

The photo from the Holodomor era depicts a mother and daughter whose house was confiscated by the communists and who were expelled onto the street. Information about the family's fate was scarce. After Russia's invasion, a woman wached article with photo and claimed the girl was her mother. Mrs. Liubov is 79, she tells the story of her family and shows the same photograph as in the museum, taken from a different angle. In parallel, operating with new facts, scientists begin to conduct their own research and they develop a different view of this story. The film explores not only the fate of one family, but also the history of the photo itself and gives voice to those who were doomed to silencе.
