Biography
Born in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, she lives in Ukraine and Germany; studied law at the Philipps Universität in Marburg, graduated as a director from the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie, Berlin (2007) with the documentary film God’s Ways, which was awarded the First Steps German talent prize in 2007.

She has made three feature films, three documentaries, and four shorts. All of them participated and were awarded at numerous international film festivals. At the River had its international premiere at IFFR Rotterdam in 2007, was shown in the main competition of the Moscow and London film festivals, among others. Her second feature film, House with the Turret (2012), won numerous awards, including the East of the West Award at Karlovy Vary, the Grand Prix at Tallinn Black Nights, the Istanbul Audience Award. The film was screened at festivals in Shanghai, London, and many other cities.

Her film Song of Songs (2015) premiered at the Karlovy Vary official competition and was nominated for the Eurimage Audentia Award and the European Film Academy Award in 2016. It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the Toronto Film Festival, and won, among others, the Best Film Award and Best Ukrainian Film Award at the Odesa Film Festival, as well as the FIPRESCI award in Freiburg, Switzerland.
