Biography
Oleksandr Portian is an independent documentarian and director of photography. In 2018 graduated National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy with master's degree in journalism. Oleksandr worked for "Hromadske radio" as stream director and video editor. Since 2016 he works for "Ukrainer" media project. "Ukrainer" tells stories from all the corners of Ukraine, rethinking historic and cultural DNA, the ethnic, geographic, and anthropological features, of our lands.

Oleksandr's directing debut, short documentary "A Strong Beat" is a story of Julia Landau from Slavutych (Ukraine). The film got a special mention at "Open night film festival" 2019 and was shortlisted for Vyklyk short film competition by Toyota. Now Oleksandr is in production of the documentary "Wild wild city" – the story about "Kyiv animal rescue group", the detachment of volunteers who rescue animals that are in an emergency situation.
