Conjuring reality and wonder, Speak so I Can See You takes us to a seemingly different era, by exploring the world of one of Europe’s oldest radio stations. A true institution of the city, the station still broadcasts original programming and helps keep history, culture, and critical thought. This cinematic exploration of the unique soundscape of Radio Belgrade is a synesthetic insight into what makes us remember and feel.

Director
Marija Stojnić
Marija Stojnić directs films that blur the borders between documentary and fiction and treats her narratives as non-linear, complex, and fragmented. She is an alumna of the New School for Media Studies in New York and the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. Her recent projects focus on cultural heritage, ancestral music and experimental sound, an interest derived from her background in music as a vocalist of traditional Serbian music. In 2016, Marija founded a production house, Bilboke, in Serbia. She is a member of DokSerbia, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in the category Film/Video for 2015, and a film fellow at the Instituto Sacatar in Brazil for 2017. Since September 2019, she’s been a part of the collective behind Set Sail Films, a film company in Belgrade.
