Film (Re)Covered Memory

Duration
480’
Film (Re)Covered Memory is about a group of activists who is fighting to preserve a historical site in central Kyiv — a building located at 37 Reitarska Street — which a developer is attempting to demolish. Their struggle echoes past events, when the Soviet regime tried to erase Ukrainian identity. This uncomfortable legacy becomes a foundation for memory and the future.

Directors: Oleksandra Pletenetska, Anna Mikheienko

The directors from Kyiv. Oleksandra is a graduate of the Ivan Karpenko-Karyi National University of Theatre, Cinema, and Television in Kyiv; Anna is currently a student. They primarily work in documentary film. The works of both artists explore themes of war, memory, and the protection of cultural heritage. They have participated in international film festivals. Anna was a member of the student jury at the 21st Docudays UA.
