Tetiana Oharkova

Tetiana Oharkova is a Ukrainian literary scholar, journalist, essayist, and member of the Ukrainian PEN. She received her higher education at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, specializing in cultural studies. In 2007, she defended her dissertation and earned a PhD in Literary Studies (Docteur ès lettres) from Paris-XII Val-de-Marne University.

  This dissertation became the basis for her book Une autre avant-garde: la métaphysique, le retour à la tradition et la recherche religieuse dans l'oeuvre de René Daumal et de Daniil Harms, which was published in 2010 in French by Peter Lang in Bern (Switzerland).

Since 2006, she has taught the history of French literature, literary theory, and the history of the European literary avant-garde at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. She also writes essays on these topics.

  In the early 2010s, she interned at the University of Geneva under the COIMBRA program and through the Fulbright Scholar Exchange Program (University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR).

  Since 2015, she has headed the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center (UCMC) international department. From 2015 to 2020, she was a journalist for hromadske.ua, one of the most prominent Ukrainian independent news media outlets.

 In 2020, with Ukrainian philosopher and writer Volodymyr Yermolenko, she launched the podcast Kult, dedicated to key eras in cultural history and iconic authors who influenced the development of literature and culture. She also co-authored the book Life on the Edge. Ukraine, Culture, and War with Volodymyr Yermolenko. Her new book, Kyiv: Spirit and Letter, is currently being prepared for publication.

 Since 2023, she has founded and hosted the French-language podcast L’Ukraine, face à la guerre.
