The French film ecosystem: co-productions and collaboration with ARTE France

What are the key mechanisms for funding film projects in France, the country with Europe's most successful film industry? How do these mechanisms function in the realm of documentary filmmaking? Learn more in a conversation with Manon Duverger, Acting Officer for Cinema and Audiovisual attaché network at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and take part in a masterclass with representatives of the legendary public broadcaster ARTE France: Fabrice Puchault, Head of Society & Culture Dpt., Boris Razon, Editorial Director and Clement Touron, Data Analyst. The events will be moderated by Ukrainian producer Natalia Libet (2brave productions).

The introduction to the French film funding system will open with a conversation between Manon Duverger and Natalia Libet. Attendees will learn about co-production opportunities with France, the country’s audiovisual policy, and the key differences between the French and Ukrainian systems. The speakers will also examine recent co-production case studies to illustrate how these mechanisms work in practice.Event details can be found at the link.

Following the overview of the French audiovisual production ecosystem, the ARTE France team will host a masterclass. Fabrice Puchault, Boris Razon, and Clément Touron will speak live about Europe’s leading public broadcaster and offer practical advice on building international partnerships. What is ARTE’s structure, and how does it operate? What distribution strategies does the broadcaster employ, and how does it navigate the European ecosystem of festivals and film markets?
