Don’t get lost in the festival buzz! Check out the illustrated guide to the 22nd Docudays UA

04 June 2025

This year’s Docudays UA festival features 12 film programs, showcasing 71 films from 38 countries around the world. The program also includes 11 projects as part of the "How We Remember" exhibition in the DOCU/SYNTHESIS section, along with a total of 43 discussions, lectures, and workshops presented by the DOCU/PRO, DOCU/CLASS, RIGHTS NOW!, and Ukrainian War Archive programs.

We’ve done everything to help you navigate the packed program of the 22nd Docudays UA with ease.

We're excited to present this year’s festival guide, once again available in printed form! It was created by film curator, writer, and cultural manager Olga Birzul, together with designer and artist Lara Yakovenko.

"A film festival isn’t just about watching movies — it’s a journey into ideas, reflections, and emotions. The printed guide is a handy map through this landscape: it explains the festival’s concept, dives into the themes of the programs, introduces the people behind Docudays, and even offers a peek behind the scenes. We created this publication as a space to pause between screenings and events — to get a feel for what the festival lives and breathes this year, and to connect more deeply to its pulse. You can jot down notes in the margins, roll it up, read it while waiting for coffee, or forget it in your backpack — it’ll survive. Because this guide, like all of us in Ukraine today, may be a little creased, slightly overloaded, but it’s made with care — just for you," shared guide editor Olga Birzul.

A fragment of the festival map, created thanks to press coordinator Maria Matiashova and the Docudays UA team!

The printed edition, available in both Ukrainian and English, can be found at the Docudays UA information stands in Zhovten Cinema.

The publication features contributions from Daria Badior, Anastasiia Bahalika, Yulia Kovalenko, Tetiana Kononenko, Olga Birzul, Zakhar Manukhov, Kseniia Opria
