We invite Ukrainian women artists to submit their media works* for the interdisciplinary arts program DOCU/SYNTHESIS, which will take place during the 23rd Docudays UA from June 5 to June 12. In developing this year’s project, we aim to amplify women’s voices in wartime and to offer a contemporary perspective through a feminist lens.
The interdisciplinary arts program DOCU/SYNTHESIS explores the medium of cinema at the intersection of different disciplines, with a particular focus on the local context. In 2024, the program, in collaboration with the Ukraine War Archive, initiated the year-long project LAB: DOCU/SYNTHESIS x Ukraine War Archive. Its outcome was the exhibition “How We Remember,” presented as part of the 22nd Docudays UA, featuring works created by Ukrainian artists during the interdisciplinary arts laboratory.“
“A selection with a feminist perspective will form the core of this year’s DOCU/SYNTHESIS interdisciplinary arts program. It will bring together works by British and Ukrainian media artists. The discussion component of the program, built around the selection, will, as always, help deepen the thematic focus. We are now pleased to announce the open call and are very much looking forward to receiving works by Ukrainian women artists,” said the program curator, Oleksandra Nabieva.
