INVASIONS 1.2.3. is a film made after the liberation of Kyiv region from the Russian occupiers in 2022. Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze meets with friends in Irpin, Muzychi, Mostyshche. Thanks to the 360° format, the reality of the Russia–Ukraine War is manifested in every inch: on the left are a destroyed bridge and houses, on the right, children are playing, a happy dog Chuck and a freshly planted seedbed. In the film, Alevtina’s clothes change from mourning to festive, and at the end, she is in the kitchen wearing her home clothes, preparing dinner from the plants-occupiers. Her walk with a Kyiv scientist-botanist sheds light on another war in Ukraine — between plants.

Alevtina Kakhidze
Alevtina Kakhidze was born 1973 in Zhdanivka, Donetsk region, USSR Based in Muzychi, Ukraine, 26 kilometers from the city capital of Kiev. Having grown up in the Donetsk region of Ukraine (since 1991), known for coal mining, she has experienced Ukraine’s abrupt and chaotic changes from the days of the USSR to the imbalanced environment after, including undeclared war between Russia and Ukraine that is going on today. Her practice encompasses performance, drawing, time-based media, curation and collaborative works and investigates complex issues from consumerism to plant culture, and from feminism to life in conflict zones.
Alevtina Kakhidze attended the National Academy of Fine Art and Architecture in Kiev (1999-2004) and the Jan van Eyck Academy in the Netherlands (2004-2006). She is United Nations Tolerance Envoy in Ukraine since 2018, the Kazimir Malevich Artist Award winner in 2008, first prize winner of the Competition for Young Curators and Artists, Kyiv, Center for Contemporary Art at NaUKMA in 2002.

Piotr Armianovski (Donetsk, 1985) is a Ukrainian artist, performer and director. In his works Armianovski explores the themes of memory, the loss, social and symbolic constructs of everyday life. Piotr works with video, performance art and virtual reality. Lives in Kyiv.
