An Eastern Ukrainian town exhausted by the war has a safe shelter for children temporarily separated from their parents. A House Made of Splinters tells the stories of three children waiting for their fate to be decided: whether they will return to their old homes or move to new ones. Meanwhile, selfless social workers give moments of joy and calm to the children, bringing them back to their childhood that has almost been lost. Following the success of his first feature-length documentary , Simon Lereng Wilmont returns to the subject of the long-term consequences of war and offers us to take a deeper look at how war affects the most vulnerable part of society. It is a poignant and deeply intimate portrait of a temporary shelter filled with attention, support and trust for the children who desperately need it.
