What does it mean to be on the map? The people who built the La Estrella neighbourhood and still live there gather to share and recall their stories. The initial idea, the construction, the fulfilment of basic needs,
and the dynamics of a "social cleansing" are just some of the milestones that the neighbours remember and reflect the history of many other Ciudad Bolívar hoods.
Santiago Rodríguez Cárdenas is a director and producer at Resonancias Producciones, a graduate in Film and Television from the Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano. His most notable works include Baudilio (2019), Pájaros (2022), and Estamos en el Mapa (2024). His films have been selected for national and international festivals such as the 15th DOC NYC, the largest documentary festival in the US; the 37th Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse, the 26th Encounters South African International Documentary Festival, AtlanticDoc (Uruguay), among others. Among his awards are the Ex Aequo Jury Award for Best Short Film and the Student.
Jury Award for Best Short Film at the 12th Panorama du Cinéma Colombien (Paris), Best National Documentary Award, Best Screenplay Award at the 22nd BOGOSHORTS, Special Jury Mention at the 22nd Vancouver Latin American Film Festival, Best Short Film Award at the Mirador Internacional in the 12th New Cinema Festival of Uruguay, Best Short Film Escuelas Colombia at the International Independent Film Festival of Villa de Leyva, and the Audience Award at the 17th BOGOSHORTS. He was also the winner of the public call Sinfonías de Bacatá from the Instituto Distrital de las Artes (IDARTES) for a documentary short, selected in Volume 5 of the REFRESH catalogue by Proimágenes Colombia.
In addition to his work as a filmmaker, he was an academic programmer at the EUREKA University Film Festival (winner of the FDC Stimulus) and currently works in production and direction departments for films and series for platforms such as Netflix and Apple TV.
