We are going to stop maintaining the Docudays UA page on the social network Twitter (now X). The team has made this decision after a thorough analysis of the current changes in the platformʼs corporate policy and taking into account the reasonable doubt about the social networkʼs ability to serve freedom of speech and support constructive and informed discourse, which are important for Docudays UA.
In our opinion, X currently does not meet the standards of an open, transparent and democratic environment in which we strive to work. After Elon Musk acquired Twitter, we have been observing changes in the platformʼs policies and algorithms that favor content corresponding to certain ideological attitudes of the network owner. This creates the conditions for discrimination against democratic voices and the spread of disinformation that contradicts our principles. The facts of interference with democratic processes through the platform are observed both in the United States and in other countries, including European ones. Unfortunately, we must admit that constructive communication is also difficult on other social networks, but unlike Twitter/X, they retain the possibility of reasoned discussion through factual content. Instead, the corporate policy of the owner of X is aimed at shadowing such content.
The activities of the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival require a safe environment where democratic values and human rights, including freedom of speech, are respected. Unfortunately, Platform X is no longer able to provide these conditions. We suggest you stay in touch on our new Instagram Threads page as an alternative.
We are grateful to everyone who read and supported us on Twitter and hope to continue our communication on other platforms.
