Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used not only for work or creativity, but also as a tool of pressure, intimidation, and discreditation.
In Ukraine, women media professionals — journalists, bloggers, and female opinion leaders in the media — are facing falsified images and videos, fake voices, waves of coordinated attacks and threats, and all of this often appears “anonymous,” “technical,” and free from consequences.
At this meeting, we will speak in clear and accessible language about how AI-amplified violence works, why it primarily targets women in the media, and what can already be done to counter it today.
We will discuss real cases from the Ukrainian context, the limits of the responsibility of platforms, the government, and editorial offices, as well as the role of human rights solidarity in situations where technology is outpacing regulation.
This is not a conversation about future threats, but about what is already happening — and about the collective tools we have for protection, support, and visibility.
In the meantime, we invite you to explore our investigation showing how these mechanisms already operate today: Artificial Intelligence and TikTok: How Prominent Women Journalists Are Turned into Fakes.
