Fake news: How not to be deceived?

Duration
90’

Organiser: Hromadske Radio

At the event, experts will discuss what ‘fake news’ is. They will also speak about how to distinguish fake news from real news, and how to filter information to avoid being deceived.

The discussion will be interesting not only for journalists but also for everyone else who wants to learn how to analyse information and make their own measured decisions, and not just to accept the ‘news’ imposed on them by manipulators.

Host: Kyrylo Lukerenko

About the speaker: Kyrylo Lukerenko received a degree in journalism at the Shevchenko National University in Kyiv in 1993. In 1995, he studied mass media at the University of South Carolina (USA). In different periods he has worked as a producer and a special correspondent of BBC Ukraine in London and Kyiv, and as the editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian New Channel news office, and the editor of the Details news show on the Inter channel. He was also the host of the ‘Agents of Influence’ show on the NTN channel and an editor of a TVi programme (before the channel’s ownership changed in 2013). Since summer 2013, he has served as the editor-in-chief of Hromadske Radio.
