20 Days in Mariupol and Porcelain War for American Audiences: The Experience of the Razom Cinema Program and Opportunities for Ukrainian Documentary Filmmakers

25 April 2025

We continue to reveal the details of events that will be available to DOCU/PRO industry accreditation holders during the festival in Kyiv. On June 11, there will be a meeting and discussion about how your documentary films can become drivers of Ukrainian cultural diplomacy and favorites among American viewers.

Launched in 2023, Razom Cinema is a program that brings people together into a community that is socially, emotionally, and creatively engaged with Ukraine through film. It is part of a cohort of initiatives within Razom for Ukraine that provides platforms to showcase what Ukraine has to offer to the world.

Our guest speaker — Polina Buchak, impact producer at Razom for Ukraine and head of its film initiative Razom Cinema — promotes Ukrainian cinema and filmmakers in the U.S. At this DOCU/PRO platform event, we’ll look at how strategic partnerships can advance Ukrainian films across the U.S. — from screenings of 20 Days in Mariupol at over 50 university campuses across 23 states, to supporting Oscar campaigns of films like The Porcelain War. Polina will showcase the many ways Razom collaborates with filmmakers to spark dialogue, drive impact, and reach new audiences. The session will also offer insights on the film festival landscape in the U.S. while highlighting opportunities, challenges, and tactical ways Ukrainian filmmakers can amplify their presence on the global stage.

Become a DOCU/PRO industry accreditation holder — accreditation is open until May 25. Upcoming DOCU/PRO event announcements are available on the website.
