The documentary tells the story of a man, now 62 and the filmmaker of the film, who started working in a home for people with disabilities when he was 17. During this time he had some formative experiences that were both deeply moving and harrowing. The young man witnessed abuse of the residents, met many different people and tried to find his way and come to terms with it.
Two years ago he found out that one of the main Nazi perpetrators came from his family. The film sheds light not only on his personal and emotional challenges, but also on the question of how deeply family history and individual experience are intertwined. The film is about guilt, responsibility and the possibility of reconciliation with the past - both one's own and that of society.
The images of the film, which consist of old archive material and the soundtrack, are artistically interwoven, creating a pull that takes the viewer on a shared journey.
