Discussion with film critics: The right to history in documentary cinema
DOCU/CLASS
13:00
Where is the boundary between documentary cinema and propaganda? Should the director intervene in what is happening in front of their camera? Where is the place of the documentary director in the system of coordinates between art and politics? Does manipulative documentary cinema exist, and how should we write about ‘useful’ films? Are there topics in history which do not lend themselves to unbiased filmmaking? And can we even talk about unbiased documentary cinema? These questions will be discussed by film critics from the US, Denmark, Spain and Ukraine at the roundtable.
